Dr. MarK Harris, DVM

Dr. MarK Harris, DVM

CEO | Veterinarian

Dr. Mark Harris graduated from The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. Upon graduation he started practicing veterinary medicine at Columbus Veterinary Emergency Center. In September, 1986 he purchased a small neighborhood veterinary practice, Annehurst Veterinary Hospital. Dr Harris’s passion for veterinary medicine and providing excellent care to his patients transformed the practice into a full service 24-hour emergency veterinary facility with round the clock nursing care for all hospitalized and medical boarding patients. In 2003 he opened a second veterinary clinic in the Big Walnut area, which is located between Westerville and Sunbury.

Dr. Harris works with rescue groups and runs his own rescue at The Animal Care Clinics. He showed his real compassion for animals during hurricane Katrina. He equipped several veterinary students he was mentoring with medicines and supplies to go help in some of the hardest hit areas. He also sent a van and staff members to Louisiana to pick up 26 dogs rescued from the hurricane and bring them back to his facility. All animals were successfully placed in loving homes and one was happily reunited back with his original family.

Dr. Harris feels it is a true privilege to have what he considers “the best job in the world” and will continue to pass it forward by mentoring some of the most amazing young future veterinarians.

His special area of interest is Canine Reproduction and Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, The Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, The Society for Theriogenology, and The Delaware Ohio Kennel Club.

In his spare time he enjoys playing with his dogs, fishing, traveling, and cheering for the Crew and Buckeyes!
